If you are anything like me, you loathe tossing out leftover ingredients. A half a cup of this or a few ounces of that….it all adds up! Usually one can find a great use for said ingredient too. For example, not long ago I suggested a way to use up a bit of leftover heavy cream; make caramel sauce. Carmel sauce will keep in your fridge, in a tightly capped jar, for 2-3 weeks. You can use it as a topping for ice cream, drizzle some on bread pudding, apple pie or over your carrot cupcake…there are all sorts of ways to enjoy it.
Now here’s another brilliant idea; a use for a few leftover wonton wrappers. I found this recipe in a blog I subscribe to, The Dainty Vegetarian, http://www.lesliesarna.com. This dessert looks so easy to make and I suspect it’s delicious. I just had to share it; especially since strawberry season is upon us. And, if I’m not mistaking, wonton wrappers are made with rice flour and therefore Gluten Free, so those of you who are GF, here’s a dessert you may enjoy! Oh, and Leslie shares a Banana version too!

Strawberry & Banana Wonton Desserts
WONTON STRAWBERRY STACK
makes 2 stacks
What you’ll need:
6 wonton wrappers
6 strawberries, sliced
1/2 pint of heavy whipping cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. powdered sugar
What you’ll do:
Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay the six
wonton wrappers on it. Paint them with some butter and sprinkle with some white sugar.
Bake for 7-10 minutes or until golden.
Place the heavy whipping cream, vanilla and powdered sugar in a bowl and whip.
Now for assembly! Place a very small dollop of whipped cream on the plate and place one
of the wontons on top. (the dollop will keep the stack from sliding around) Next, place a
spoonful of cream and a pile of strawberries. Next goes another wonton and repeat. Place
the third wonton on top with dollop of cream and a strawberry.
WONTON BANANA STACK
Makes 2 stacks
What you’ll do:
6 wonton wrappers
1 banana, sliced
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
honey to drizzle
What you’ll do:
Prepare the wonton wrappers the same as above. For the cream, blend the ricotta and
cinnamon in a bowl. And layer the same way as the strawberry stack. When done, drizzle
with honey.
